York & London – Burlesque
Two of my favourite cities in England are London and York, London for its cosmopolitan vibrancy and York for its ancient beauty. So, when I was asked to teach a private workshop in both of them for a lavish events company, I jumped at the chance!
York was first and was a private party for clients of an exclusive store which is stocked full of luxury underwear, nightwear and swimwear (http://kathrynrolfe.co.uk/).
Not only was I fortunate enough to teach a taster session for lots of wonderful ladies that night but was also booked to model some of their stunning garments!
Fast forward a busy week later andI’m heading off to London for the second event and official launch of the wonderful SREvents (http://www.simmirolfe.co.uk/).
Fortunately, after the initial drama of having my first train cancelled by Virgin trains, the rest of the journey was hassle free.
After a gorgeous lunch with one of my oldest friends in Olivelli, I headed to the venue to set up.
All I can say is ‘wow’! The event organiser absolutely picked the perfect venue – sensuality, fun and risqué – I wanted to move in!
As the bar-staff lined the huge bar with dozens of Porn Star Martinis, the guests began to arrive and partake in said cocktails. As the sun set across the city, I started teaching the very enthusiastic clients who picked up the moves super-fast and looked awesome!
I made them promise that they would start a little troupe and send me footage of their first live performance…they agreed! Hours later I left the party in full swing, while all the party goers drank champagne by the bucketful and enjoyed the delicious canapes served by the stylish waiting staff.
Every time I go to our capital I fall in love with it a little more; it carries the feeling in the air that anything is possible – which is how I live my life and what I believe in.
I never tire of the bustling energy of the place, the thousands of people all with somewhere to be or the overwhelming choice of places to go, things to see and foods to eat!
However, as I rushed home on a bus (as my return train from London to Leeds was so delayed that I missed my last connection home), unlocked my door, threw my bag down, ran down the road with my toddler in his pram to pick my daughter up from school and finally managed to sit down for a few minutes, I realised that home is where the heart is and my heart is most definitely right here <3
