The Slippery Belle Presents…BURLESQUE! at The Lowry. 03.03.18

I’ve been producing shows at The Lowry Theatre for many years and it’s always one of my favourite venues to work with. The stage is *phenomenal*, the tech and front of house staff are the best, the lighting beautiful, sound is incredible and, of course, the acts are amazing ?

This time I was fortunate this time to secure the amazing Abigail Collins, Lou Safire, John Celestus, Luna Tik Tok, Fifi La Roux, Shir Madness, Ava Ahotsa and brilliant stage manager, Helen Donnelley.

Due to the British public transport systems’ inability to handle snow, we were very sad to lose both Abigail Collins and Luna Tik Tok who couldn’t make it safely to the venue. However, we were fortunate enough to gain not only the sensational Millie Dollar to step in for Luna (who came with the wonderful Bambi Le Bam as assistant stage manager!) but also the delightfully devilish Don Vinaste as compere!

Our sold out night began with show tunes from stunning chanteuse Ava Ahotsa, then we rolled out our burlesque superstars. From the seductive Shir Madness bringing us classic burlesque fan dancing and a superbly emotive LED act, the bodaciously bendy John Celestus who glided across the stage in TEN-inch heels (I had producer palpitations!), Millie Dollar’s inimitable bump and grind, Fifi La Roux as a life-size duck (you have to see it!) and moving hoop routine, Lou Safire’s human blockhead and striptease then back to Ava who got the entire place up and dancing – no mean feat for a theatre show!

We finished the night off with celebratory drinks and backstage selfies before heading home to the comfort of our respective beds.

A few days later I received the images taken on the night by the insanely talented Lucy Shevchuk Photgraphy (you can follow her here on instagram – @lucylikescreative)

Our next show at The Lowry is on Sunday 22nd July, tickets are on sale this Friday 16th March on the Lowry’s website, I shall see you there!
